Aam Aadmi Party has demanded compensation to the farmers for crop damage due to heavy rains

Residents of rural areas of Outer Delhi, who depend on farming, are facing tremendous challenges to their livelihoods due to heavy rains. Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal along with his party supporters visited to the farmers who are residing in the periphery of the Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal have asked for compensation for the losses caused by unseasonal rains.

Arvind Kejriwal along with his party workers visited the areas of  Ghuman Hera, Shikarpur, Rawta, Galibpur, Jhuljhuli, Sarangour and Daulatpur.  “If Mrs Sheila Dikshit claims that Delhi is a no-village city, it is totally wrong as the villagers in external Delhi are facing troubles and losses,” said Mr Gulab Singh Yadav, AAP candidate from Matiala. Gulab Singh Yadav said that he has promised a mahapanchayat for farmers where they will discuss the problems faced by them and find solutions.

Crops worth crores of rupees belonging to the poor farmers in all the four vidhansabha area have been destroyed. Rice and Bajra crops, in Bawana, has suffered heavy losses. Aam Aadmi party spokesperson has said that people, who planted the crops by borrowing money from banks and private agencies, now have no solution to recover from this loss. Similarly in Najafgarh, mustard crop is completely destroyed and losses of crores have been incurred.  Party now demands immediate compensation to the farmers.
