Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will prove the majority of his government today in the Assembly. Aam Aadmi Party has 28 MLAs and need the support of eight MLAs of Congress to prove his majority of 36 in a house of 70. The Congress announced that it will continue to extend outside support to the AAP government.

The Delhi government will provide night shelters to the homeless in harsh cold which has gripped entire north India. The government will replace the existing tented facilities into porta cabins within four days. The state government has also announced 45 new night shelters within 48 hours.

Arvind Kejriwal said the government-run night shelters cannot protect people from cold. The order has been passed to replace plastic tents with porta cabins within four days. He further said the government has ordered the sub-divisional magistrates to identify and vist such areas and ensure that porta cabins were being set up there. Arvind Kejriwal said the government is also seeking the assistance of all MLAs in ensuring better facilities at the night shelters.

The government ordered Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) to audit accounts of private power distribution companies. Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has also ordered the CAG to start looking into the company account books of discoms. Arvind Kejriwal was not satisfied with the reasons cited by the discoms to substantiate the demand that their finances not be audited. “The time-frame to complete the audit is set for three months, but it may take more than three months”, kejriwal said. AAP government is expecting to get back the unfair profits once the audit is complete.
