In a press conference held at the Constitution Club in the capital, Arvind Kejriwal accused the government of collusion with Reliance Industries Ltd for manipulating the gas prices. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal posted in Facebbok “A v imp press conf today at 11 am. An imp step in our fight against corruption.”

The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he has ordered the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday to register FIRs against Union Petroleum minister M Veerappa Moily, former petroleum minister Murli Deora and Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani over pricing of gas produced from the D6 block in the east coast.

Arvind Kejriwal said : “The Reliance Industries Ltd initially agreed to supply gas to NTPC Ltd at about $2.3 per million British thermal units (mBtu) for about 17 years but did not produce adequate gas from eastern offshore KG basin block so as to put pressure on the government to hike the price. After conspiring with a few ministers, the RIL fixed the D6 block at $4.2 per mBtu. Now, Oil Ministry decided to increase the natural gas price to USD 8 per million British thermal unit as against current USD 4.2 from April 1. The hike of the price would lead to the inflation and destabilization of the economy. If the price of the gas is increased to 8 USD per mBTU, the price of transportation, electricity and fertilization will also increase. I will also write a letter to Mr. President and Mr. Moily to suspend the order of gas price increase for the time being, and to tell every ministries to co-operate with the inquiry.”

Arvind Kejriwal demanded that the Central government should give the gas wells to ONGC. He also accused the Congress and BJP of remaining silent on the gas issue.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said there are certain media channels that are sponsored by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. These channels could not accuse Mukesh Ambani, but those channels which are not sponsored by Mukesh Ambani should stand up for the cause of public and stop acts of increasing corruption.
