The AAP have been attacking the government on the issue of high onion prices. The Aam Admi Party (AAP) demanded an inquiry into reports of onion hoarding by some traders.

“News reports suggest that difference between wholesale and retail price of onions in Delhi is unusually high, by Rs.30 to Rs.40, compared to other parts of the country where it is only Rs.2 to Rs.15,” said a statement issued by AAP.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) feels the matter requires urgent action as hoarding of onions and artificial jacking up of their price is severely affecting the people of Delhi,”  the party statement said.

Arvind Kejriwal said the rate of Rs 100 for per kilogram of onion was “not natural but artificially created”.

“We demand urgent inquiry into reports of onion hoarding. The common man is suffering due to the collusion between those traders and suppliers who are creating an artificial shortage of onions,” said Kejriwal.

“Onion” has shown its power in 1998 when BJP lost the 1998 Delhi Assembly Elections due to rising price of onion and since then it is failed to return to power.
